Standalone health insurer Niva Bupa reported a 93% jump in Q1 FY27 net profit to Rs 138 crore (from Rs 70 crore a year earlier), with total insurance revenue rising to Rs 2,274 crore from Rs 1,769 crore.
Gross Written Premium grew 32% year-on-year to Rs 2,150 crore, led by a 47% surge in the retail health business, which lifted Niva Bupa's retail health market share to 11.1% from around 8% a year ago. The claim settlement ratio improved to 95.6%, and the combined insurance service ratio (CISR) improved to 100.2% from 103.2%, reflecting a focus on profitable, sustainable growth.
Assets under management rose to Rs 9,963 crore from Rs 8,112 crore, while the solvency ratio declined to 2.25 times from 2.86 times a year earlier — still well above the regulatory minimum.
Niva Bupa's Q1 numbers extend a strong run: the insurer grew premiums 34% in June 2026, and standalone health insurers as a segment continue to outpace diversified general insurers, with segment growth of 30.9% in June and 32.9% in Q1 FY27.
